Rabbi Benjamin Spratt
Rabbi Benjamin Spratt grew up in Salt Lake City and was ordained by The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in May 2008, with a concentration in Jewish Philosophy. In his years at JTS, he received many awards and prizes in Talmud, philosophy, homiletics, and Bible.
Rabbi Spratt spent his early years exploring his Jewish identity. His Jewish journey took him through the Conservative, Renewal, Orthodox, and Reconstructionist worlds of Judaism before finding a home within the Reform movement.
Rabbi Spratt now serves as senior rabbi of Congregation Rodeph Sholom. He lives in the Bronx with his wife, Cantor Micah Morgovsky, and their two children, Ayalah and Jonah.
Rabbi Leah Sternberg
Rabbi Leah Sternberg grew up in Michigan (Go Blue!), with a few years in Los Angeles. She was ordained in 2019 by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) as a rabbi with a certificate in Jewish Nonprofit Management.
Rabbi Sternberg currently serves as the assistant rabbi at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, New Jersey. She is passionate about looking for new ways to help young Jewish New Yorkers connect with Judaism and find community in this ever-changing world.
When she is not working, you can usually find her looking for the perfect oat milk latté, exploring a new trail, or investing too much time in Bravo TV.
Rabbi Deborah Goldberg
Deborah Goldberg (she/her), ordained from Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, OH in May 2021, is our new Assistant Rabbi. She comes to us having served as Rabbinic Intern at Congregation Beth Tikvah in Columbus, OH, where she developed interfaith and adult education programming. She is “passionate about building inclusive Jewish communities where everyone has access to our sacred texts and traditions.”
In her fourth year at HUC-JIR, she was honored with the Rabbi Morris H. Youngerman Memorial Prize for Best Sermon and while a student, she was a Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati Fellow at Isaac M. Wise Temple working on family engagement and teen social justice programs. Deborah was an Eisendrath Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism in Washington, DC and the Teen Programs Coordinator at the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs in Chicago where she grew up. We welcome Rabbi Goldberg to New York City with her recently adopted beagle, Kelly. As a student chaplain in hospitals and senior residences, she learned how a pastoral presence can be instrumental in creating sacred relationships. Something her new congregation will no doubt gravitate towards.
